Fineline QuadFish

Fineline QuadFish

This is a board designed to give fish-like drive and down-the-line speed along with a vertical potential and pocket surfability that fish normally don’t have.

Great for both mush and real surf.
The shorter versions carry fishlike width wider tails; longer versions slim up for more of a twim fin style template.

Pictured, on the right, is 5’10, 15” X 21 1/8” X 16 1/2” X 2 5/8”

On the left is a 6’1, 14 1/2 X 20 1/2 X 16” X 2 1/2

Fin spacing is fairly critical, but that’s why it comes with Lok Boxes.
They usually show up at the shop with LB1/LB4, or AK4 fins, but the longer versions surf great with the Twinzer set, with the large upright fins in front and the baby trailers in back.

You choose!

Fineline HeshFish / Turbo HeshFish

Fineline HeshFish / Turbo HeshFish

I started making these again around 2000, and I’ve been refining ‘em ever since. It’s a true fish- think of it as two single fins, side by side; two rails, two fins, two tails. It needs a rail in the water: commit your turn and you’ll fly!

Typical Dimensions at 5’9”: 16 1/4 X 21 X 16 3/4 X 2 9/16

A couple of things you need to know about this board.
One: its not rockered to be super short- a typical 5’9 bloke should ride something between 5’9 and 5’11.
Two: it isn’t a mush monster unless you really know it- better for soft surf is Der Uberflaven, or:

The turbo looks virtually the same on the net as a hesh, but in fact it has a curvier template, a more even thickness/rocker distribution, and a different bottom template that’s mush friendlier.

Also the tail split is shallower by 1 1/2” to 6 1/2”, which eliminates quite a few foot cuts and bruises. Both boards come with custom two-side foiled, removable keel fins.

Fineline Diamond Quad

Fineline Diamond Quad

Diamond tails always seem to deliver a crisp, tight turn, especially when the board doesn’t carry a lot of tail kick.
I’ve used these properties to make a firm turning, fast, full-volumed quad.

The board on the left is a 5’10” 14 1/4 x 20 1/8 x 16 x 2 7/16

From 6’0” down, these critters scream through mush and come alive with plenty of hold for juicier surf. 6’4” and up, they make a superb bigger guy quad, with plenty of tail volume to prevent the tail from sinking when it slows down.

The board on the right is a 6’6” 13 1/8 x 20 x 15 1/2 x 2 5/8

Both carry a goodly amount of nose rocker. The bottom is a flat, neutral front, to a mid-stance concave, to a bonzer-like tunneled V for quick rail-to-rail turn love.

Fineline MP

Fineline MP

A true displacement hull with a twist. Like all good hulls, it has an “S” deck thickness distribution, with a low swing weight thin nose and a tail oriented thickness and rocker for foot-over-the-fin drive.

The twist is in the tail- a classic shortboard tucked under edge immediately in front of the fin allows you to get off of the 50/50 center rail at will and gives this board a vertical dimension, while maintaining the mid-board carves-from-hell and blissful trim that are the hallmarks of all good stubs.

The board shown is mine; its dimensions run: 6’3 x 2 3/4 17 x 20 7/8 x 15 1/4

Best from 6’0 to 7’0. Comes capable as a single fin or a one plus two- a Brewer style
triple fin that gives tube hold without inhibiting the quick pivot that is the best feature of single fins. In fact, the small fin actually moves the pivot towards the rail, and makes for a tighter turn and a looser feel than a single fin alone. All fins are included and all are right for the individual board they come with.

Fineline MicroDirt

Fineline MicroDirt

hese are true blue, rubber band riding displacement hulls, for the 6’6 and under set.

They have no set template or rocker- each board is an individual, like the folks who ride ‘em, tuned from the length and rocker up, but all ride like… well, like a rubber band.

The one shown is a 6’3, 18 1/8 X 22 X 15 1/2 X 2 3/4

This is one of the 6’3 and up styles; a good beachy stub, but a little boggy shorter, or on slower waves.

Most shorter boards have wider tails, in between 16 & 16 1/2”. All come with a flex fin that’s right for the individual board.

Fineline MicroAnt

Fineline MicroAnt

A genu-ine single fin dsplacement hull stub. It differs from most fo the fine stubs out there by having a blatant “pig” tail template, a la the old Nat Young and Wayne Lynch Evo-Era first generation shortboards.

This gives theis board an added turnability off the tail that normal stubbies usually lack, without sacrificing classic hull-carving “hum” when the front end’s weighted.

What’s really scary about this board is how beginner friendly it is- I’d ike to think that like an old horse, it just knows the way home. Typical dimensions, 7’0” to 8’6”: 16 1/2-ish x 21 to 22-ish x 15 1/2-ish.

It always shows up with a fine flex fin of my choice: you mess around with placement!
