My best board ever?

May 29, 2012 by John H.

My 10'2" Hornet has ruined me for all other boards. It does everything I like to do. Step to the back and you can whip it around, step to the front and it takes off. I don't nose ride it, but the step deck makes it easier to duck dive. Pinchy rails carve deep and sure. I've ridden mine for 8 years now fairly steadily. It has a few deep areas on the deck but absolutely no delam. 90 percent of the time it's the perfect board. I ride beach breaks all the time on it. My Hornet is arguably the best board I've ever owned in 40 years of surfing.

Gene’s smart. Rode a 10′ hornet. It worked, did what it was supposed to. Pintail with a hard edge in the tail and rolled v in front of the fin. Stable with fast driving turns. Versatile, big and small. Not really a noserider, you can get some concave in the nose. I wouldn’t recommend the concave because then it’s not a hornet.
