Surf board shapers are much like artists. They often do not get a lot of fame or fortune until long after there shaping career has passed. The job of shaper has the allure of fame and being able to surf all the time with as many boards as you can dream up. However, like many careers the the daily grind is a lot more work then many may think. Shaping surfboards includes a lot of time carving foam and and laying glass, both which are a messy job.
But also like an artist the end result is a unique creation that the brings a smile to their customers face and some bread in the shapers pocket.
